Why I Started As Time Goes By

I remember back in the early eighties when Apple brought out their first Macintosh computer. Ever since that moment I have always owned a computer — many of them in fact, more than a few of which I managed to crash and make completely unusable.

Through all of those years, though, I learned a lot. Especially about the internet.

Now that I am retired, there is something I have plenty of — time. Time to browse the World Wide Web, clicking from one site to the next, spending hours going down rabbit holes and really not finding what I actually wanted to read about.

And what I wanted to read about was life as a retiree. Subjects that actually speak to my time of life.

Yes, there are plenty of websites about retirement out there. But most of them are just advertisements dressed up as advice, trying to sell you something — a financial product, an insurance policy, a retirement village. Honest information written plainly and without an agenda? That was much harder to find.

So I decided to use the expertise I had quietly gathered over decades of computers, crashes and countless hours online — and create my own blog.
